Ann Hampton Callaway
What has happened to you professionally in the past year?
I’ve performed in London and all over America this year with lots of different shows. Headlined new acts with Marilyn Maye, Davis Gaines, Rene Marie and Amanda McBroom and have been performing with my sister Liz Callaway as well. Liz and I were honored to perform “What the World Needs Now is Love” at the DNC this year with forty Broadway stars. Entertainment Weekly called it the highlight of the Democratic and Republican Conventions. That song we recorded as a single with #BroadwayforOrlando to raise money for those afflicted after the Pulse tragedy in Orlando. I am also thrilled that my new Radio series “This is Cabaret” is starting syndication this month!
What is your latest cd about?
My latest CD is called The Hope of Christmas. It got rave reviews this last holiday and was different because it was a jazz CD of all originals by Bill Westmoreland, two which I composed music for. I am recording a new jazz CD this year and it is still in the planning stages.
What type of songs does it have?
The Hope of Christmas features an array of beautiful ballads, samba, swing, gospel and Dixieland treatments of well written new holiday songs. People really love it!
What do you have coming up?
I am excited to be singing in the Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival with Dee Dee Bridgewater and other jazz artists. I return to London in November with Amanda McBroom in Divalicious and my sister Liz and I join the Nunziata Twins to headline the NY Pops annual Christmas extravaganza at Carnegie Hall.
